Interface purpose

A domain name holder, at the time of the domain registration, must designate an administrative contact and a maintainer used during the whole time the domain name is in use.
The accuracy of the database requires that all information concerning the domain name holder and its contacts be published online and accessed by all.

However, in the case of domain names registered for individuals, holder and administrative contacts can benefit from an option called "restricted publication". This option hides the personal administrative information of the holder (first name, last name, phone and fax number as well as e-mail address) to third parties.

Without breaching the French Data Protection Act, the AFNIC offers the possibility to third parties to communicate with a domain name's administrative contact who chose the restricted publication option through a contact tool interface.
This tool allows third parties to communicate with the adminsitrative contact without revealing the identity of the domain name holder or its administrative contact, preserving their total anonymity.

Terms & Conditions

For this service, the AFNIC transfers the message without verifying its content and its purpose. The AFNIC does not verify the accuracy of the recipient's contact information nor the identity of the sender.

For technical reasons, the AFNIC cannot guarantee an answer from the administrative contact nor that the administrative contact has received and acknowledge the transfered message.

The AFNIC, in any case: is not the originator of the message transfer request, does not select the recipients, does not select, modifies or acknowledges the content of the messages.

For good service administration, security reasons and statistics, the AFNIC collects the first name, last name and e-mail address of the sender.

The use of this interface is subjected to archiving limited to the collected data mentioned above as well as the connection informations (IP address) and does not take into account the content of the message. The sender of the message is sole responsible for its content.

These collected information are kept for a 12 months period.

In any case, this service is used under the only responsability of the sender. In case the results are not satisfactory, the sender will have to use the classical ways described in the Charter (article 30 - Personal Data).
